Larkin & Lacey

There is a guy out there who came up with such a unique idea for a jail that it turned into a tourist attraction. The name of this guy is Sheriff Arpaio, and the jail was called a “tent city.” Nobody liked staying in that jail.

The types of people who lived in this jail were criminals who were given less than a year of jail time. The crimes that landed people with less than a year usually included drug possession, driving under the influence of alcohol, domestic violence and theft. Sheriff Arpaio wanted people to understand that if they did something wrong, they were going to end up in this “tent city.”

The natural climate made life in the “tent city” absolutely brutal—flirting with temperatures as high as 125 degrees. If people were made to live here for more than a year, the cruelty level of Sheriff Arpaio would have gone up exponentially. Nobody deserved to live out in the heat for more than a year.

In these camps, Sheriff Arpaio would pull antics to taunt the prisoners. Televisions would play the Food Network as the prisoners were forced to eat dirty, disgusting, rotten food and have small selections of what to eat. Learn more about Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey: and

The prisoners wore bright, light pink clothes with stupid sayings one them. For example, there are images of men wearing pink shirts that say “Cleaning(ing) and Sober” and “Sheriff DUI Chain Gang.” Sheriff Arpaio became so famous for the pink clothing policy that he had a stand where he signed pink boxers for people. There are pictures online of prisoners donning the pink clothing, as well as pictures of Sheriff Arpaio standing next to pairs of pink boxers, smiling, as if something is cute or funny.

Some people with souls do not think that these images are funny; they think that these pictures are signs of a sick society—which they are. The pink underwear symbolizes belittlement and improper jail conditions. It also subtly alludes to other abuses that Sheriff Arpaio has committed against mankind.

One abuse, for example, is the reckless racial profiling of people who he perceived to be from south of the border. The problem is that a lot of people with roots from south of the border happen to be citizens. A person’s ethnic or racial background doesn’t make them “legal” or “illegal.” Thinking such a thing is wrongfully prejudicial.

Unlike Sheriff Arpaio, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey have standards about how to treat people, which is why they established the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund.

Their fund helps Latino people to raise their voices high so that they can fight against the likes of Arpaio. Courage, hard work and passion are needed more than ever in a time of uncertainty—call it “Trumpmerica!”

Trumpmerica is a place where evil doers like Sheriff Arpaio get pardoned for racial profiling, which happened this past year in a shocking, landslide event. As time goes on, it will be interesting to see what future developments bring in Trumpmerica.
