InnovaCare Health Guided by Rick Shinto Strive to Provide Puerto Rico with High-Quality Healthcare

A leader in providing Medicaid and Medicare Advantage Plans, InnovaCare is committed to providing high-quality healthcare for all their members. Their quality and service ratings in administrating needs in Puerto Rico are proof of their continued commitments. The island has undergone significant recovery efforts from Hurricane Maria, and InnovaCare network providers have been there for the people.

Dr. Richard Shinto is the current President and CEO of InnovaCare and has more than twenty years of clinical and operational healthcare experience. He was elected in 2017 to serve on the board of directors for America’s Health Insurance Plans which is the country’s most significant trade association. Dr. Shinto serves on several other healthcare boards.

Three new administrators have been added to their team so their human healthcare can continue to succeed. They all have a high level of expertise including Jonathan Meyers who is acting as chief Actuary officer. He comes from the position of director for Actual Services in the Medicaid and Medicare for Horizon in New Jersey.

Penelope Kokkinides is the current chief administrative officer at InnovaCare and has met with President Trump and Seema Verma, CMS Administrator to discuss healthcare registration in Puerto Rico. Kokkinides discussed with the President the importance of increased funding for Medicare Advantage in Puerto Rico. Through CMS, the current administration is considering changes in those payments that could help do the right thing for the island.

During the discussion with President Trump, one of the major discussion topics was the role women play in healthcare which President Trump acknowledged. He stated that female healthcare professionals play a vital and indispensable role in today’s healthcare system.

Medicare Advantage is the most popular plan on the island. Private plans such as MMM Healthcare and PMC Medicare Choice which are part of InnovaCare contribute to the popularity of Medicare Advantage.

The island of Puerto Rico is seeing an increase of patients signing up for Advantage as most are poor or chronically ill. The cost of a reduction in benefits worries people as they are expected to lead to higher pharmaceutical prices and hospitalization. Dr. Shinto is trying to meet the institution’s standards and provide better health standards than any of those that existed before. His goal is to ease people’s worries and offer better and more affordable healthcare.

As a committed organization, InnovaCare Health’s mission is to generate endurable models of managed care. They want a system that is cost-effective and fully incorporated and also uses the newest technology.
